Michele + Chris and I had fun together from the moment we met and I poured us each a drink at my studio. When their wedding day finally rolled around, it was the ideal situation – we felt like friends with cameras. It made for authentic images throughout the day, and we also had a chance to create some new images at Deerfield Golf Club in Newark, DE.

For any venue I shoot at frequently, I challenge myself to find a balance between consistency and pushing myself creatively, taking risks. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes, both technically and artistically. Deerfield is a prime example of that: I’m on their preferred vendor list. With any familiar venue, it’s a challenge to create imagery that nobody else will have, not just once, but every time I shoot there. It can be a challenge, but it keeps me from stagnation. As a wise photographer once told me, “once you find something that works, stop doing it.” More like, “don’t stop there…”, but you get the idea 😉
